The issue of tithe is greatly misunderstood. Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse… This single verse has created exploitation and dissension in the church. People believe all they have to do is pay tithe to God and everything will fall in place. “God, I have paid you my tithe, now it’s time to do your work.” Then they become bitter when things don’t go as they planned.
The bible asks us to bring and not pay our tithe to God, because you can’t pay God to get any job done for you. 1Cor 10:9MSB We must never try to get God serve us instead of us serving him…. You can’t pay God from what he has given you; that’s a wrong mentality. By paying your tithe, you prove God faithful. Malachi 3:10 (I will) pour you out a blessing that there won’t be enough room to receive. When you bring your tithe, God releases his blessing. He had said that he will bless the work of your hands. This blessing is idea. Idea on how to go about your business, he will open your eyes to doorways in that your field of expertise; that what others are struggling to achieve will be an easy task for you. But be careful not to think you are paying God for his service. One idea from God can launch a man into dimensions that seem unattainable. We have heard several stories of people receiving ideas from God about a business they know nothing of and making exploits in it. This is what God does when you bring in your tithe. It is different from sowing.
2Cor 9: 20 Now he who supplies seed to the sower… The secret to prosperity is in your seed. This is what God multiples- your seed and not your food. NLT…the seed is what you sow for increase. It is in your giving that you are made to prosper. Psalm 35:27KJV The Lord which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. It is God’s desire that we prosper and that our blessing comes to fullness. But being a believer doesn’t guarantee prosperity. It’s a making.
